DIY | Luxe Stud Earring Display

I'm back on the blog with this quick and beautiful earring display DIY!  I was inspired to create this while cleaning my closet last weekend, as I realized I have no jewellery box or proper storage!  I wanted to create something that looked expensive and not "DIY" if you know what I mean.  I love how the end result turned out.  Let me know what you think in the comments below!

At Home | In the Bedroom

Our second room in the house to be fully finished is the bedroom!  When we first moved in, the bedroom was pained stark white after renovation which was very hospital like and not welcoming.  I love white walls, just not in the bedroom.  Our house currently has a colour theme of black, white, beige and gold so we decided on a black statement wall.  I remember painting it and thinking, "I've made a horrible mistake", but after putting everything together I'm now in love with how it turned out!

The bedroom has a mix of new and sentimental items.  The first sentimental item being the bed frame, which Jon single handedly built for me for my 24th birthday.  Originally it was natural wood, but we painted it black with the wall because it blended nicely.  The mid century side tables were my late Grandpas which I painted white and added new hard wear to modernize them.  The gold mirror was also from my Grandpa which I'm in love with!

I am so happy with how the bedroom turned out, now we just have to remember to make the bed in the mornings to keep it looking nice!

Lifestyle | Colaneri Estate Winery Day Trip!

What better weekend activity is there than visiting a beautiful winery in the summer?!  A few weeks ago a few friends and I decided to do a day trip to Colanari Estate Winery in Niagara on the lake.  The grounds at Colanari are absolutely beautiful!  The photo opportunities were obviously endless as you can see above, ha!  Walking around, I literally felt like I was in Italy.  The fact that is was 4000 degrees that day also contributed to the feeling I wasn't in Canada.

We had a wine tasting where we each tried three reds and three whites, plus a specialty wine.  I really enjoyed the Stellucha Reisling and Callavone Pinot Grigio.  The speciality wine I tried was the Profondo Callavone - Recioto Pinot Grigio which is not quite as sugary as an ice wine but tasted like liquid heaven.  I am still pretty clueless when it comes to wine and wine making but I sure enjoy drinking it!

You can check out the Colanari Estate Winery's website for more information if you plan on visiting!

At Home | Bathroom Bliss

Welcome to my first official home tour blog post!  The bathroom, because it involves the least amount of furniture and decorations - Ha!  Since making the move to Kitchener/Waterloo in November of last year, I have been anticipating blogging about our newly renovated home.

My Summer Makeup Favourites

It's almost summer in Ontario and I'm absolutely loving the warm weather! I thought I would share my latest favourite makeup products that I use to get that "no makeup" makeup look. I love rocking the natural look at the beach, pool, or a lazy day at work. To be honest, I was blessed with uneven acne prone skin and dark under eye circles therefore I still have to apply a decent amount of products to get my skin looking flawless. The products below are my top picks for getting that natural summer glow!

1.  Joe Fresh Matte Sheer Tint
I love this product!  It's a mix between a BB cream and a foundation, so it's super lightweight for summer.  Usually, I'll put sunscreen on first and then pop this on top in my problem areas.  I've only tried a few Joe Fresh beauty products and so far I'm liking the brand.

2.  Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector - Champagne Pop
The Becca highlighters are simply the best to get the perfect glow on your cheekbones.  If you want to shine bright like a diamond here is your product.  I like Champagne Pop (rose gold) and Moonstone (light gold) and try Opal if you want a true gold.

3.  L'Oreal Voluminous Waterproof Mascara
A must have for the beach or a pool party, especially if you plan on taking a dip.  I will usually put a very light coat of the black-brown, just to darken up my light eyelashes a bit.  The waterproof version will ensure you don't suffer from racoon eyes (the worst).

4.  Benefit Sun Beam Liquid Highlighter
This highlighter gives the skin the perfect dewy tanned glow.  I used it on my cheekbones, nose and forehead.  This product is great if you want a more natural highlighted look.

5.  Benefit Hoola Bronzer
I have used this bronzer for YEARS.  It's completely matte and the perfect shade to get a nice deep bronzed look!  It also lasts forever, I maybe go through one every 8 months or longer.

First Impressions | Jouer Cosmetics Lip Creme

Jouer Long-Wear Lip Creme Liquid Lipstick, $18
Dulce De Leche
Bronzer, Blush, Highlighters, Kitten Liner, Luminizing Liquid Highlighter, Anti-Blemish Matte Primer
Fruit De La Passion
Jouer Lip Cremes

Lip Cremes
A girl can never have too many liquid lipsticks, am I right?  Jouer is a newer brand that produces high quality cosmetics including some amazing lip cremes.  These liquid lipsticks are so fantastic, I am loving them right now!

First off, the Jouer lip cremes are very waterproof.  These things are not coming off without a little elbow grease.  After swatching, I ran my hand under water and literally nothing happened, it was crazy.  They are on the dry side, but from my experience if a liquid lipstick is not dry enough they come off easily, bleed and look bad so I prefer it to be a bit dry.  These are not as dry as ColourPop though, which are the driest liquid lipsticks I have used thus far.  The colour payoff is strong, you need to layer the lighter colours a bit more to get the perfect opaqueness but they are very pigmented.

The colours are all amazing and very wearable.  The metallic liquid lipsticks are awesome and look cool paired with non-metallic colours.  My favourite colours are Melon for a nice nude.   Noisette, a light chocolate brown which is a more wearable alternative to Kylie Jenner True Brown K for lighter skinned people.  Also easier to purchase than Kylie Lip Kit, I think I have a better chance of winning the lottery.  My other fav is Cherise a bright cherry red, classic.  All we are missing here is a cool bright orange and some vampy dark colours and the Jouer Lip Creme collection would be complete.

I love love love the smell of the Jouer liquid lipsticks.  They smell like Vanilla, which is my favourite scent.  When I first opened one I was hooked.  I'm that weird person that smells everything by the way, food, makeup, whatever - I'm smelling it.  If you're scent-sitive than these may not be for you.

The applicator is the same as Kat Von D, Lime Crime, ColourPop - standard wand which in my opinion is the best to apply liquid lipstick.  It's stiff and easy to control.  The actual packaging is just okay, not my favourite.  I do think it's cool that the packaging clicks together which is great for travel.

Face Products
As for the face products, my top picks are the cream highlighters that work so well (see above photos).  For acne prone skin people like myself the anti-blemish matte primer is excellent, and it is truly matte.  I'm also a big fan of the kitten eyeliner, very black and very waterproof.  Overall, super impressed with this brand and the quality!
