From the moment I heard about Langdon Hall Hotel & Spa, it's been on my wish list to stay there.  Arguably, the perfect luxury country getaway.  Lucky for me, the weekend prior to Valentines Day my wonderful boyfriend swept me away for a night, to fulfill this wish.

Langdon Hall is a true gem, built-in 1902 and influenced by American design, the house has a spacious thirty-two rooms, totalling more than 25,000 square feet.  You can read more about the history of Langdon Hall on their website.  "Part of the ambience of country house hotels is due to their British origins and thus their natural focus on gardens."  Although it's the middle of Winter, we still got to experience the gardens through the two greenhouses which were full of flowers, succulents and greenery.  I absolutely need to go back in the summer to experience the outdoor pool, gardens, tennis courts, and other activities they offer.

Langdon Hall is a member of the Relais & Châteaux, which is a collective of privately owned hotels that are operated with passion and quality.  Each hotel must comply with the Relais & Châteaux Quality Charter, or the “the 5 C’s: charactercalmcharmcourtesy and cuisine.  I thought I would go through the 5 C's and how they related to my amazing experience at Langdon Hall.

Character

There is no doubt that Langdon Hall exudes character.  The unique interiors were stunning.  From gilded mirrors, detailed woodwork, antique accents and the stunning exterior it felt like entering another era.  Discovering the library and hidden nooks throughout the house was amazing.

Calm

Throughout my stay, it's safe to say I felt "calm".  I moved a little slower, was able to relax and take my time through all our activities.  The spa was a gem!  Unfortunately, massages book up quickly, so we were unable to get one, so if you plan to stay book in advance.  The spa has a steam room, sauna and whirlpool which is open to guests so we spent a few hours in there relaxing.  A nice touch was within the spa area, they have custom branded Langdon Hall water bottles and an electric water dispenser that gives the option of flat or sparkling water.

Charm

There were a few highlights, that were most memorable throughout our stay.  The piano player at dinner was fantastic and gave the room a wonderful ambiance.  One of my favourite aspects of the stay, was the fireplace in the room, which was so cozy and romantic!  Sipping champagne by the fire was wonderful.  The grounds were amazing to explore, I felt like I was in the movie The Secret Garden.  Beautiful, even in the winter.

Courtesy

From the moment we stepped in the front door, we experienced excellent service.  Every person we interacted with at Langdon Hall was kind, helpful and accommodating.  Literally, when I asked where the bathroom was, the front desk hostess basically escorted me all the way there.  Another pleasant surprise, was when we arrived back from dinner, they prepared the bed for us.  Took all the pillows off and set the duvet which I've never experienced before.  These little touches are small, but meaningful and memorable.

Cuisine

Where do I begin with the food!  We arrived on Sunday, just in time for a three-course Brunch.  First, they butter you up with fresh bread, which I don't know about you, but it's the key to my heart.  I started with the Squash Puree which was delicious, followed by the Barley Risotto and a S'more for dessert (pictured above) to finish it off.   I ordered a cocktail that was infused with flowers and topped with dry ice, it was such a fun visual experience right at the table.  The dinner was also a fantastic experience, delicious food, drinks and tea to finish.  We brought our own champagne which they served to us at dinner.  Our server was friendly and extremely knowledgable and passionate on the tea's which makes me want to go back for high tea, asap.

The Country Breakfast Buffet, might have been my favourite meal as I'm pretty simple when it comes to food.  The options were incredible!  Croissants, pastries, eggs, fresh fruit, parfaits, quiche, smoothies, I was in breakfast heaven.

Overall, our stay was incredible and we can't wait to go back in the summer!  I hope you enjoy my photos as much as I did taking them.
